Bahona College, established in 1966, is a general degree college situated at Bahona, in Jorhat district, Assam. This college is affiliated with the Dibrugarh University. Dr. PK Dutta is the Principal of the College; while Prof. Jiten Kr Nath is the present Vice Principal and Dr. Rafique Ahmed is the coordinator of IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell). Department of English: The Department of English was founded with the establishment of the College in 1966, while the Major Course was introduced in the year 1986. Currently, there are four permanent and one contractual teacher in the department and offers major and pass courses. Teaching is conducted in a congenial environment with remedial teaching, personalized care and mentoring offered. The department has been able to show consistently good results with university rank 16 (in the batch of 2015.) DR. SANTANA SAIKIA, Associate Professor, with Specialization in Commonwealth Literature, is the HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT.; Mr. SAMIR RANJAN BARUAH, with Specialization in American Literature serves as Assistant Professor of the Department.; Mr. AJIT KUMAR BORAH, one of the most talented Professors of the college, with Specialization in Linguistics serves as Assistant Professor of this Department.; Mr. AMARJYOTI DEVNATH, with Specialization in Indian English Literature, is the last name to the list of Assistant Professor(s) of the department. The motive of teachers of this most reputed department is not only to teach English as a language but also as a subject. They not only prepare students for the job market but for life too- to grow responsible, independent, confident and compassionate human beings in an informal and friendly environment. The Department offers Courses of English Major at Under-graduate Level (30 seats); while at Post Graduate Level [Distance Mode], it has 15 seats.
