WBCHSE 12th Physics Practical Structure (Total Marks: 30)

Practical Work Overview

  • Group A: Experiments on Current Electricity and Magnetism
  • Group B: Experiments on Ray Optics and Semiconductor Devices

Section A Experiments (Electricity & Magnetism)

  • Verify Ohm's law using a uniform wire.
  • Determine resistance of a wire and calculate specific resistance.
  • Verify law of series combination of resistances.
  • Verify law of parallel combination of resistances.
  • Compare emfs of two cells using potentiometer.
  • Measure internal resistance of a cell using potentiometer.
  • Determine resistance and figure of merit of a galvanometer.
  • Convert galvanometer into an ammeter and voltmeter.
  • Plot magnetic field lines and locate neutral points.

Section B Experiments (Optics & Semiconductors)

  • Find focal length of a concave mirror via graph.
  • Find focal length of a convex mirror using convex lens.
  • Determine focal length of a convex lens by plotting u-v graph.
  • Find focal length of concave lens using convex lens.
  • Plot graph to find minimum deviation angle for prism.
  • Determine refractive index of glass slab using microscope.
  • Draw I-V characteristics of P-N junction diode.
  • Study reverse bias characteristics of Zener diode.
  • Study characteristics of NPN/PNP transistor in common emitter mode.

Note: Students must perform one experiment from each section during the exam.
