1. Education

b. RBI Grade B Officer (General)

  • Minimum Qualification: Graduate in any discipline.

  • Note: Graduates, who have a Master’s or higher are also eligible and tend to be more competitive.

2. Age Criteria

a. RBI Assistant

1.Min Age: 20 years

2.Max Age: 28 years

3.Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PwBD: 10 - 15 years (as per category)
  • Ex-Servicemen: can go up to 50 years (conditions apply)

b. RBI Grade B Officer

1.Min. Age: 21 years

2.Max. Age: 30 years

3.M.Phil./Ph.D.:

  • M.Phil: upper age is 32 years;
  • Ph.D.: upper age limit is 34 years.

4.Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PwBD : 10 years
  • Ex-Servicemen and others as per government norms

3. Other General Eligibility Conditions

1.Citizenship: The candidate must be a citizen of India. Some posts will allow subjects of Nepal, and Bhutan or Tibetan Refugees as per government stipulations.

2.Number of Attempts (RBI Grade B):

  • General Category: 6 attempts
  • SC/ST/OBC/PwBD: No restriction

3.Medical Fitness: A candidate's selection is also dependent on him/her clearing a medical examination by a medical officer(s) authorized by the RBI.

4.Character Verification: The candidate would also need to go through verification of his/her background and provide a character certificate from authorities.

  • Basic pay - ₹55,200 in a month
  • Gross Salary - ₹1,00,000+ a month with many allowances included

Career Ladder:

  • Assistant Manager → Manager → AGM → GM → CGM → Executive Director → Deputy Governor

3. Liaison Officer (Contractual Basis)

Type: Liaison/Interface role (recently recruited on a contractual basis)

Eligibility:

  • Graduate in any discipline
  • Fluency in English and Hindi
  • Experience in admin/liaison positions (preferred, although not always a necessity)

Age: Most often up to 62 (retired officers may also be eligible)

Role:

  • Working as a liaison/interface between the RBI and other government or financial institutions
