JEE Advanced 2025 Dress Code

The JEE Advanced examination does have a dress code that students are required to follow. Following the dress code for the exam is very important. Students who do not adhere to the JEE Advanced dress code may not be allowed to sit for the exam or be asked to leave. To avoid any such hassle when going to give this important exam, it is recommended students adhere to the JEE Advanced dress code. 

The dress code for the exam is as follows: 

  • Both boy and girl students are recommended to wear simple and light-colored clothes without any fancy designs or logos. It is also recommended for students to not wear pants with a lot of pockets to avoid any trouble or confusion. 
  • Students are recommended to not wear clothing with any large logos or brand icons. 
  • Students are not allowed to wear dupattas or scarves to the JEE Advanced examination. 
  • Any form of shoes are not allowed to be worn to the examination. Boots and heels are also not allowed to be worn to the JEE Advanced examination. 
  • Students are recommended to wear sandals, floaters or slippers to the JEE Advanced exam instead. 
  • Jewelry is not allowed inside the JEE Advanced examination hall. Jewelry includes items such as rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Other forms of accessories such as belts and watches are also not allowed inside the exam. 
  • Girl candidates are advised not to wear any designed hair clips and hair ties. 

JEE Advanced Barred Items

There are several items that are not allowed to be carried to the JEE Advanced examination. Carrying these barred items can lead to a student’s exam being cancelled or being denied entry to the exam hall. To avoid any problems or hassle, it is recommended students make sure to avoid carrying any such barred items. 

The items that are not allowed to be carried into the JEE Advanced exam are as follows:

  • Stationary such as geometry boxes, pencil pouches or notebooks. 
  • Electronics such as phones, calculators, smart watches and other digital devices. 
  • Bags, handbags, wallets or purses. 
  • Long-sleeved shirts and shirts with big buttons. 
  • Pants with too many pockets. 
  • Any form of study material. 
  • Jewelry such as earrings, rings, necklaces and chains. 
  • Electric pens. 
  • Rough sheets. 
  • Logbooks.

JEE Advanced Exam Rules 

When appearing for the JEE Advanced paper, there are several in-exam rules that students must follow. Not following these in-exam rules can get students' papers cancelled or in some cases delayed. To avoid any trouble, it is recommended students follow the JEE Advanced exam-rules while giving the examination.

The JEE Advanced exam rules are as follows: 

  • Finish Both Exam Papers: The JEE Advanced exam consists of 2 exam papers for students to give. Students should remember that they are sitting for both papers, not just one. If a student appears for one exam but not the other, they will be marked absent and not evaluated.
  • Reach the Exam Center Early: No entry will be given to students who show up to the JEE Advanced exam center late. To avoid this, students should leave and reach the exam center early. In case of traffic or weather-related problems, students will still be able to reach the exam center on time. 
  • Do Not Carry Barred Items: Students should not carry any of the listed barred items to the JEE Advanced exam. Doing so can result in the cancelling of the paper for that student. 
  • Carry Required Documents: Students should not forget to carry their important documents for the JEE Advanced exam. These important documents mainly include the JEE Advanced Admit Card and a government-issued photo-ID. These documents are required for verification and attendance purposes. 
  • Cooperate with the Exam Invigilator: It is recommended that students thoroughly cooperate and follow all instructions given by the exam invigilator. Students who do not cooperate with the invigilator may be asked to leave the JEE Advanced exam.
  • Do Not Leave Exam Center Early: Students are not allowed to leave the examination center for the JEE Advanced exam early. If a student finishes the exam before time runs out, they are required to sit and wait till the examination is finished for everyone. This is the case for both exam papers. Students may ask the exam invigilator for permission to leave early.
