Information technology and allied fields are the main areas of study and research at the deemed institution IIIT Bangalore. It was started as a public-private collaboration between the Karnataka government and the IT sector in 1998.
In computer science, electronics, data science, artificial intelligence, and other subjects, the institute provides a variety of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. Additionally, it works with academic institutions and partners in industry to carry out research initiatives.

Due to its strategic location, IIIT-B is well positioned in the industry but is not yet well known within the student community. Many candidates are unaware of its existence. For Mtech, placements at IIITB are significantly better than those at several NITs and IITs.
With that high percentile, a student in the general category cannot get into NIT or IIIT. It will be equivalent to at least 1,30,000 rank in general.

VIT can't compare to the faculty and facilities of IIITs. VIT has good infrastructure, but not enough for the number of students who want to study there. However, IIITs have a standard intake in addition to good students and additional exposure. The IIITs are considerably superior to the VIT in terms of placement and education.
