Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh (CU-UP), organized Engineer’s Day 2025 with a significant focus on grand celebration, innovation, and a forward-looking vision towards Artificial Intelligence (AI) and nation-building. Faculty of Engineering & Technology organized a day-long celebration with some thought-provoking addresses, panel discussions, and competitive events, attracting academicians, industry leaders, and aspiring engineers.
The Dean, Faculty of Engineering, CU-UP, Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Prasad, provided the welcome address paving the way for the day's events, which were then enriched by concluding remarks from the Registrar, CU-UP, Dr. Ajay Yadav. Furthermore, an impressive lineup of industry and academic leaders addressed the audience including Mr. Alok Agarwal (Technical Director, PTC Industries), Dr. Nischal Verma (Professor, IIT Kanpur), Mr. Anil K. Tiwari (Executive Engineer, UPPCL), and Mr. Joginder Singh Meravi (Sr. DGM, BEL), addressing the need of innovation-based solutions in engineering.
The panel discussion titled "Engineering India's Future: AI and Innovation for Nation Building" wrapped up the day, which included Dr. Puneet Misra, Head of CSE, University of Lucknow; Mr. Neeraj Kumar, Technology Head, AI and Cloud, TATA Consultancy Services; and Mr. Vivek Tripathi, Associate Director, PwC who spoke about the transformative opportunities within AI and its ability to fuel India’s dream of Viksit Bharat.
As part of our celebration, we invited local school students to participate in special sessions, which allowed them to experience our technology up close, and visit the AI pavilion piece at the university. A key part of this presentation was an Engineer’s Pledge - “The young engineers participated in an oath at CU-UP where they pledged to uphold integrity, public welfare and the standards of the profession".
CU-UP students exhibited true competitive spirit with events such as a Hackathon, a Creative Short Video Contest, a Quiz Bowl (Engineering, AI and India), an Innovative Idea Pitch Challenge 'AI for Bharat', and a Debate Contest. Winning teams were honored with awards at the prize distribution ceremony.
As alumni, CU Uttar Pradesh's leadership was an added synergy for the event that reinforced the institution's vision of educating future-ready engineers with interdisciplinary knowledge, AI skills, and global exposure. The celebration of Engineer's Day, however, was a strong realization of the university's mission of demonstrating academic excellence while having relevance in society and industry responsibility.
