Exam Pattern
Section A: Reading & Comprehension (20 marks)
Includes two unseen passages (prose and poetry) and two seen passages from textbooks.
Section B: Writing Skills (25 marks)
Tasks include an essay (10 marks), a formal/informal letter or application (4 marks), and short notes based on prescribed prose or poetry (11 marks).
Section C: Grammar & Literary Terms (20 marks)
Covers vocabulary, sentence construction, tenses, idioms/proverbs, rhetorical devices, etc.
Section D: Literature (15 marks)
Short questions from prescribed prose and poetry, plus one on Urdu literary genres (e.g. Asnaaf-e-Adab).
Student Feedback
Many found the paper straightforward and manageable, mostly aligned with NCERT texts. Some difficulty noted in muhavre (idioms) and writing section by learners new to Urdu.
