Vadodara-based Parul University's Ayurveda Hospital, through its Madhavbaug unit, has successfully taken its integrative Ayurvedic healthcare to the next level by transforming the life of Mrs. Arpitaben Mayankbhai Patel, a 51-year-old patient diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus for over a decade. One week after the commencement of comprehensive Ayurvedic treatment, Mrs. Patel was completely off insulin.
Mrs. Arpitaben had been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus for the previous 11 years and was on daily insulin injections (15 IU) combined with a continuous supply of allopathic medication. Once again Mrs. featured her country's Ayurveda, conscious of the use of oral and injectable medications with their side effects. She struck out to find a likely leader at the Madhavbaug Unit at Parul Ayurved Hospital - this was an opportunity to benefit from an active Ayurvedic intervention in the hope for long-term management and betterment. Under the management of Ayurvedic physicians, she was admitted for a 7-day stay in the hospital - a day involving the introduction of Panchakarma, supplemented with oral Ayurvedic medicines including yogic practices, pranayama, personalized dietary recommendations and mild physical exercises. The treatment plan had a therapeutic intention - facilitating detoxification, rejuvenation and natural regulation of her blood sugar levels. Outcomes were rapid and measurable from the first day. By the end of the first day, her blood sugar levels dropped sufficiently to allow the hospital doctors to taper off her insulin prescription from 10 IU down to 8 IU. By Day 4 Mrs. Patel had no more insulin. Upon her discharge, the doctor also reduced her oral medication. Today Mrs.Patel, one month after treatment, is still with normal blood sugar and no insulin.\
