The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is a compulsory qualifying examination conducted through the Bar Council of India (BCI) in order for law graduates, and enrolled advocates to qualify. To obtain the Certificate of Practice necessary which enables you to practice law in courts in India, you must take and pass the AIBE.

  • It assesses your general legal knowledge (100 MCQ in 3 - 3.5 hours covering ~19 subjects: IPC, CrPC, CPC, Constitutional Law, Evidence, Ethics, etc.)
  • You are permitted to take the AIBE immediately after your graduation and upon being enrolled with a State Bar Council. There is no limit on attempts or age.
  • You are required to take the AIBE in order to get the Certificate of Practice and practice law in India.
