The second round of BTech admissions at Delhi University is over. Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is full, but there are still spots open in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) and Electrical Engineering (EE).
Each of the three streams—CSE, ECE, and EE—offers 120 seats in DU’s new four-year UG engineering program, launched in academic year 2023–24.
Each of the three streams—CSE, ECE, and EE—offers 120 seats in DU’s new four-year UG engineering program, launched in academic year 2023–24. Combined, they make up 360 seats across the board.
The current situation is as follows:
- CSE is completely full – all 120 seats have been claimed.
- ECE has filled over 90 seats, leaving only a handful still available.
- EE has so far admitted 76 students, meaning around 44 spots are waiting for Round 3.
In total, 338 of 360 seats across the three branches have been allocated in Round 2. That leaves 22 open seats, ripe for grabs by high-ranking students or those in reserved categories.
As for the integrated law programme, which was also introduced in 2023-24 and offers 120 seats, the interest remains high.
According to the admission data, over 3,425 students have registered or expressed interest in the course so far, and 1,785 of them have paid the registration fee. The university had to go up to the fifth admission list last year to fill all seats in this programme.
What can you expect Next?
- Round 3 admissions are expected to begin next week, once results for CUET-UG are out.
- Applicants should have their college and branch preferences ready and monitor the CSAS portal closely for official updates.
The EE branch, with the most vacancies, is likely to be the main focus of Round 3. Even if there aren't many seats available, ECE is still worthwhile, particularly for students who qualify under certain quotas or have high JEE Main rankings.
Tips for students
- In Round 3, move quickly because seats are limited, particularly in EE and ECE.
- Keep a lookout for the CUET-UG outcome—this is the trigger for the next admission phase.
Final word
If you missed the cut in Round 1, Round 2 brought hope for many, especially in CSE and ECE. But the final opportunity lies ahead in Round 3, with EE offering the most chance.
To all those still in the waiting: stay alert—because in DU’s BTech race, strategy matters just as much as rank.
