UPSEE 2020 Counselling

The Counselling for UPSEE will commence in the month of July 2020, in order to provide admission in various engineering colleges of Uttar Pradesh. Candidates are required to carry all of their documents for verification at the IET Campus and reach at the scheduled time mentioned. Once the documents are verified, the candidates would be asked for spot options and would be allotted seats there itself.

Candidates would also be required to keep an academic fee of INR 55,000 which can be either paid online or through DD to the institute that has been allotted to the candidates. For the vacant seats that stay after the date of counseling, the candidates were required to visit respective Government institutes personally as per the vacancies and merit list.

For the subsequent admission year, AKTU has decided to conduct a document verification procedure in an online mode. In the course of the registration, candidates would be required to upload all the documents in 200 KB. All OBC Candidates should get their certificates made in April 2020. UPSEE Counselling will be held in 5 phases with a spot counseling round being held only for Government Colleges.

For vacant seats in the UP Institute of Design, eligible General Category candidates for admission into B.Tech/B.Arch was required to participate in the Counselling rounds held in the month of August. 

Candidates who are from a non-UP background and may have passed the examination from outside UP can apply for 10% of the seats in private institutes that are affiliated with AKTU subject to fulfillment of eligibility conditions. Any vacant seats remaining after counseling of UPSEE, the candidates would be open to JEE Main.

An important point that is to be noted is that 10% of the total sanctioned seats available in Technology/Architecture in private institutes affiliated to AKTU would be filled through the merit of Non-UP Domicile candidates without reservation subject to specific eligibility criteria. All seats in Government/Government aided/Self Financed Institutes would be filled by candidates who have qualified UPSEE.

 The vacant seats in the NRI/Management Quota or vacant seats after UPSEE Counselling shall be filled strictly in the following order of preference within 15 days of the last date of the counseling given:

  • JEE Main candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria on the basis of JEE Main Ranks.
  • Candidates qualifying UPSEE who fulfill the eligibility on the basis of UPSEE Rank.
  • Candidates who have passed the intermediate level of UP Board or 10+2 level or its equivalent from any recognized Board/University.

UPSEE 2020 Counseling Procedure

The counseling procedure of UPSEE 2020 Exam would be conducted in 6 steps wherein the candidates are required to go through each step one must follow. The admission procedure is completed only if students qualify through these steps. Following are the steps one must successfully complete:

Step 3: Choice Filling

Step 4: Result Declaration of Seat Allotment

Step 5: Seat Confirmation by Candidates

Step 6: Physical Reporting of Candidates

Candidates who qualify UPSEE Exam must register themselves for admission by completing the counseling procedure conducted by the institutes affiliated to AKTU. They must register themselves and upload the documents required at the time of registration. Payment of counseling procedure is to be done during the time of registration. A detailed description of the above-mentioned steps has been given below:

Step 1: Registration, Updating Documents, and Payment of Counseling Fee

Candidates applied and qualified the exam must register themselves by using their application number and password sent to them during the time of registration. Process the payment of counseling fee once you are registered. The payment must be processed online via debit card/credit card or net banking.

After this procedure, the candidates must upload the required documents as per the requirement of institutes.

Step 2: Verification of Documents

Following are the documents one must carry in order to appear through the counseling procedure:

  • UPSEE Admit Card
  • UPSEE Rank Card
  • 12th Class Marksheet and Certificate
  • Domicile Certificate
  • Character Certificate
  • Medical Fitness Certificate
  • Category Certificate (if required)
  • Income Certificate for Economically Weak Sections

Step 3: Choice Filling

Candidates must choose the colleges and courses they wish to pursue their career in, and these choices must be made in as per the priority. Candidates can choose as many colleges and courses as they want.

Step 4: Result Declaration of Seat Allotment

Based on candidates' choices they made during the time of counseling procedure and merit list of seats available, candidates are allotted seats in the courses offered by the institutes.

Step 5: Seat Confirmation by Candidates

During this step of counseling procedure, candidates must choose three options to confirm their seat allotment. These options are given as following:

  • Freeze – They can choose their seat by freezing the seat allotted.
  • Float – Candidates can choose other options for a seat to be allotted to them while holding on to the seat already chosen by them.
  • Withdrawal – Candidates can place a withdrawal request or leave the seat already allotted to them. They can also choose not to participate in the admission procedure conducted further.

Step 6: Physical Reporting of Candidates

After getting qualified in all the three rounds, candidates (who are allotted seats) must report to the college allotted to them. They are required to complete their admission formalities set by the institutes they are applying for.
