R.M.K. College of Engineering and Technology was established in 2008 in Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu. The institute is governed by the Lakshmikanthammal Educational Trust, and is affiliated with Anna University, Chennai. Approved by AICTE, the RMK College of Engineering and Technology is a Telugu minority institution.

The campus of RMK College of Engineering and Technology is about 100 acres (0.40 km2) and is located in the heart of Thiruvallur. The college has a fleet of 26 buses exclusively available for the student's transportation.
The institute provides 2 computer centers with centralized air- conditioner. Both of these centers are 1848 sq.ft and 2500 sq.ft respectively. with 448 systems, 500 GB Hard disk capacity and 4GB RAM. The centers also consist of 33 Printers and 110KVA UPS with 30 mins backup. The Centre has a 25 Mbps (1:1) leased line Internet connection from TATA Tele Services.
The College Library has a collection of 10362 Volumes of books with 2565 titles. The Library also subscribes to 48 National Journals and 20 Magazines and is automated through the Standard Library Software package called “ Autolib 5.2 version”. The Circulation System is fully Computerized and all the documents are bar-coded .
