Maharashtra FYJC Admissions 2025: 5 Lakh+ Seats Filled in Round 1 — What to Know Before July 10 Round 2

The first round of First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions in Maharashtra ended Monday evening, with over five lakh hopefuls confirming their admission to Class 11. The Office of the Deputy Director of Education (DyDE) announced this along with the second round timetable, which will begin on July 10. According to the schedule, during the second phase, which runs from July 10 to July 13, candidates can enhance their applications, which includes changing any information or altering the institutions' preferred order.

The second merit list for FYJC admissions will be released on July 17. From July 18 to July 21, candidates who have been assigned seats on this merit list can confirm their admission. On July 23, the details regarding the open list for FYJC's third round of CAP will be released.

The Centralized Admission Process (CAP) accounted for 4,32,287 of the 5,08,096 candidates who confirmed admissions in the first round, while 75,809 confirmed their seats under various quotas, including minority, management, and in-house, according to officials. Out of the eight divisions in the state that handle FYJC admissions, Pune has the most admissions (91,001), followed by Mumbai (87,558). The Latur division had the fewest admissions in the first round of FYJC, with 32,856 confirmations.

The science stream had the most confirmed admissions (2,35,506) out of all the admissions confirmed in the first round of FYJC, followed by the arts stream (1,17,447). There are 79,334 confirmed admissions in the Commerce stream. On June 28, after several delays brought on by technical and other problems, the first merit list for FYJC admissions was released. The candidates who received seats on the merit list had until July 7th to confirm their admission. Candidates were required to confirm their admission if they were given a spot in their first college of choice.

“If they have failed to do so, such candidates will be out of the CAP for the second round. Whereas all other candidates who may have decided to wait for a better seat allotment will get a chance to reshuffle their college preferences for the second round,” said an officer overseeing the FYJC admissions.
