Kashmir University Postpones Exams Under Operation Sindoor; New Dates to Be Announced Soon

All exams that were supposed to take place on May 7, 2025, have been postponed by the University of Kashmir. New dates for the rescheduled papers will be provided later, officials stated.

India launched coordinated airstrikes against nine terror infrastructure targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and other parts of Pakistan just hours prior. The overnight operation is a crucial reaction to the terror incident in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians almost two weeks ago, including a Nepali national.

Indian Army sources claim that the strikes were carefully planned to prevent escalation and that they avoided targeting Pakistani military sites in favor of concentrating only on destroying terror camps and launchpads. Officials emphasized that the action was a "measured and calibrated response" for eliminating cross-border terrorism, despite the operation's severity.

The operation was named Operation Sindoor, symbolically drawing from the red vermillion traditionally worn by Hindu women as a mark of marriage. The name has emotional significance since during the Pahalgam terror incident, a number of women, including the wife of an Indian Navy commander, witnessed their husbands being slaughtered in front of them.

All schools, colleges, and other educational institutions in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch districts would remain shut on Wednesday, May 7, following India’s precision strikes on terror camps in Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sialkot, and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

“In light of the present circumstances all School, Colleges & educational institutions in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch would remain closed today," stated the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu on X (previously Twitter).
