IBPS has been allowed by the Ministry of Finance to use Aadhaar authentication to confirm candidates' identities during examinations. The goal of this action is to stop admission exam imitation and cheating. Additionally, it will contribute to a more equitable and transparent hiring procedure in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) industry. The Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 has formally recognized IBPS as a Public Examination Authority, according to a notice published in the Indian Gazette (S.O. 837, pages 1614–15/c).
The notification was released by the Ministry of Finance's Department of Financial Services in accordance with Rule 5 of the 2020 Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance Regulations. It permits IBPS to voluntarily deploy e-KYC of Aadhaar-based Yes/No authentication for candidates. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) gave its final permission following discussions with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
The goal of this program is to prevent malpractices such as impersonation during exams and to encourage good governance. The government hopes to guarantee a fair and transparent hiring process by providing a strong identity verification system, protecting the interests of legitimate applicants who could otherwise be at a disadvantage due to fraudulent activity.
In addition to improving security, voluntary Aadhaar authentication is anticipated to simplify and speed up the identity verification procedure, which will lessen the administrative load on IBPS. (With inputs from IANS) In an effort to cut out intermediaries, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently declared that Tatkal ticket reservations, which are based on Aadhaar-based OTP authentication, will go into force on July 1.
It's crucial to remember that Aadhaar authentication will only be used voluntarily. This implies that applicants can still use other recognized identity documents to apply for the IBPS recruitment procedure if they do not want to verify using Aadhaar. Instead of imposing, the goal is to make it easier, quicker, and safer for those who prefer to use Aadhaar to verify their identity.
