A significant opportunity has been announced by NTA for students who took the CUET UG 2025 Accounting paper between May 13 and May 16. These candidates may choose to retake the subject in the new format or keep their current scores after the exam pattern is revised in the middle of the cycle. The action was taken after students expressed dissatisfaction with the accounting paper's format during the exam's first section. The NTA updated the question paper design and gave test-takers additional options in response to this input.
CUET UG 2025 Retest: Key Changes
Candidates can select from questions from Unit V: Computerized Accounting Systems and an optional unit under the updated exam design, which goes into effect on May 22, 2025. Unit V questions were previously required, which disadvantaged applicants who were not conversant with computerized accounting.
Students can now tailor the exam to their abilities by choosing questions from subjects in which they are more proficient according to the revised format. In its most recent public notification, the NTA stated that the adjustment was made after consulting with subject matter experts and aims to “maintain parity and fairness for all candidates.”
Retest rules for May 13–16 candidates
Students who took the Accountancy paper during the initial phase between May 13 and May 16 now have the option to retake the paper under the revised structure. However, this is a one-time offer and comes with strict terms:
- Retest-based final score: Should a candidate decide to take the retest, the new score will be the only one used, and the previous attempt's marks—regardless of which was higher—will be eliminated.
- If a candidate chooses to retake the test but does not show up, they will be considered ABSENT and will not receive any marks for the topic.
- Retention occurs when no action is taken. Those who do not apply for the retest will have their previous May 13–16 scores considered final.
Details regarding the date, time, and test centre for the retest will be announced on the official CUET UG website: exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG
