Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Bhopal accepts online mode of application. The admission procedure is basically carried out based on candidates' performance in the respective entrance examinations. The institute offers Dual Degree BS-MS, BS (Economics), Integrated Ph.D. and Ph.D. programs. These programs are primarily offered in the field of Biological Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science.
Admission to these programs is offered based on the merit in the last qualifying examination. The application procedure start date of each program varies from one another.
Admission to Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal
Admission to BS-MS Dual Degree and BS Economics
IISER Bhopal Courses include BS-MS Dual Degree and BS Economics programs and these programs are offered under various specializations. The admission procedure is mainly administered by the Joint Admissions Committee (JAC). This admission committee is headed by various members of the institute.
- Candidates seeking admission to BS-MS Dual Degree and BS Economics are required to hold a valid score in JEE Advanced examination. Students who possess KVPY Fellowship are also eligible to apply for admission.
- Candidates applying through SCB channel are required to appear in Aptitude Test (IISER Aptitude Test/IAT) followed by a personal interview round conducted by the institute. Based on their performance in this procedure, the seat allotment procedure is completed.
Admission to Integrated Ph.D.
The institute offers Integrated Ph.D. program. The program is offered under three specializations. Interested candidates can pursue with state-of-the-art research, that results in Ph.D. degree.
- Candidates seeking admission to Integrated Ph.D. under Physics must qualify JEST examination with a valid score.
- For admission to Integrated Ph.D. with Chemistry and Mathematics, the candidates must possess a valid score in JAM.
- The candidates are primarily shortlisted based on candidates' performance in Written test/Interviews conducted by the institute.
Admission to Ph.D.
Ph.D. program is offered under several specializations. The shortlisting is done based on candidates' performance in the written examination followed by personal interview round conducted at the institute.
There are two rounds held by the institute. Shortlisted candidates in round 1 are then further advised to interact with faculty members in the department. The candidates are assessed based on their conceptual knowledge and research.
- For admission to Ph. D. program at IISER Bhopal, the candidates must hold a valid score in GATE/CSIR JRF/UGC JRF or NET examinations.
Interested candidates must ensure that they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria defined by the institute. They must go through the official website of IISER and familiarize themselves with the instructions available on it.
Minimum Educational Qualification
For BS-MS Dual Degree and BS Economics
- Candidates seeking admission to BS-MS Dual Degree must have passed senior secondary school with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology.
- For admission to BS Economics, the candidates must have passed senior secondary school with Mathematics.
For Integrated Ph.D.
- Candidates seeking admission to Integrated Ph.D., the candidates must hold a B. SC/B. Tech or BE degree in the relevant field with at least 60% marks in aggregate.
For Ph.D.
- For admission to Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics, interested candidates must hold an M. Sc/M. Tech degree in the relevant field securing at least 60% marks in aggregate.
- For Chemical Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the candidates must hold an M. Tech /ME/MS degree in the relevant field with at least 60% marks in aggregate.
- Candidates with a degree in MBBS or MCA are also eligible to apply for Ph.D. in Biological Science.
- Students with B. Tech in Computer, Civil, and Chemical willing to pursue their career in Earth and environmental science are also eligible to apply for Ph. D. program.
Note* Candidates belonging to SC/ST category are given 5% marks relaxation.
Application Procedure of IISER Bhopal
Candidates seeking admission must visit the official website of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research.
- They must visit the official website and fill the application form.
- The application form must be filled correctly as any incorrect detail may lead to cancelation of the candidature.
- Payment of INR 2000 (INR 1000 for reserved categories) must be processed as application fee while filling the form.
- The payment can be made through any online payment mode such as credit card, debit card or net banking.
