Duration: Fixed-term contract (12-18 months)Position summary:
The accounts executive will be responsible for end-to-end record-to-report (R2R) activities, including accurate accounting, statutory and regulatory compliance, timely financial reporting, and audit readiness. The role requires strong hands-on accounting skills, ownership of closures, and familiarity with NGO-specific regulatory and donor requirements.
Key responsibilities:
A. Accounting & reporting:
1. Maintain complete and accurate books of accounts in Tally/ERP.
2. Post journal entries, accruals, provisions, depreciation, and reversals.
3. Own month-end and year-end closing activities, including schedules, cut-off controls, and timelines.
4. Prepare monthly MIS reports and financial statements (Income & Expenditure Account and Balance Sheet).
5. Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all transactions.
6. Review and maintain the fixed asset register and ensure alignment with financial records.
7. Perform bank, cash, vendor, and general ledger reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
B. Statutory, regulatory & donor compliance:
1. Ensure timely compliance with all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, including TDS, GST, Provident Fund, FCRA, and donor-related obligations.
2. Prepare and file TDS returns, deposit taxes within due dates, and issue quarterly TDS certificates.
3. Manage Provident Fund compliances and respond to queries from statutory authorities.
4. Prepare and file GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and annual returns) and carry out GSTR-2B reconciliation.
5. Reconcile input tax credit (ITC) with books of accounts and resolve mismatches with vendors.
6. Support grant-wise accounting, utilization tracking, and donor-specific financial reporting as per agreements.
7. Maintain a statutory and compliance calendar and ensure zero slippage across filings.
8. Maintain complete documentation and working papers to support statutory filings and audits.
C. Audit, controls & support:
1. Assist in year-end closing and finalization of financial statements in line with applicable standards.
2. Coordinate with internal, statutory, donor, and FCRA auditors and respond to audit queries.
3. Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and organizational policies.
4. Support process improvements, system strengthening, and automation initiatives within finance.
5. Process payments in the absence of the finance officer.
6. Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, consultants, and authorities to resolve accounting matters promptly.
