About the Internship
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilites include:A. Theme & Plugin Customization:
1. Assist in customizing existing WordPress themes using HTML, CSS, and PHP to match brand guidelines.
2. Configure and test essential plugins (SEO, Caching, Security, and Forms).
3. Help build and maintain custom page layouts using Gutenberg blocks or page builders (like Elementor or WP Bakery).
B. Site Optimization & Performance:
1. Conduct regular audits to improve Core Web Vitals (loading speed, interactivity, and visual stability).
2. Optimize images and media assets for web delivery without compromising quality.
3. Assist in implementing Lazy Loading and CDN configurations to handle high traffic spikes.
C. Content & Editorial Support:
1. Troubleshoot formatting issues within the WordPress Editor (Gutenberg) for editorial staff.
2. Implement "Schema Markup" to ensure articles appear correctly in Google News and Search snippets.
3. Manage the staging environment to test new features before they go live on the main publication site.
D. Maintenance & Security:
1. Perform routine updates for WordPress core, themes, and plugins.
2. Monitor site security logs and assist in implementing SSL and firewall protocols.
3. Help manage database backups and ensure site redundancy.
E. Technical SEO & Analytics:
1. Insert tracking codes (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel) accurately within the site header/footer.
2. Ensure all URLs, redirects, and sitemaps are functioning correctly to prevent 404 errors.
