Xavier Aptitude Test was held on January 7, 2018. XAT Examination for the first time was held in a Computer-Based mode. Although XAT Exam giving mode changed, the exam pattern remained as the same in the previous year, except for a few changes in terms of marking scheme and question count.
The XAT Difficulty level was of a level that ranged from being moderate to tough. Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation section were known to be the toughest of all sections. Decision-Making Section was known to be the easiest of the sections. Some major operational issues were reported from Gurgaon, Pune and Kolkata owing to XAT may be rescheduled at these exam centers.
The XAT Exam Analysis given below is on the basis of the feedback taken by the examinees.

The XAT 2018 Section-wise analysis is detailed as below:
Verbal and Logical Ability
This section carried 26 questions of easy to moderate level of difficulty. There was an equal division of questions among both the Verbal and Logical sections. There were about 17 Reading Comprehension sections. The Reading Comprehension questions from passages and poems. The other questions were on Vocabulary, Grammar, usage and Verbal Reasoning.

Decision Making
Being an easy section this year, the total number of questions asked was 21. Seven Caselets were asked in the examination.
Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation
This section had a maximum number of questions in XAT, to a count of 27. Most of the questions were asked of Quantitative Ability. Questions were asked on the following topics:
General Knowledge
This section consisted of a total of 25 questions wherein 15 were from Static GK and 10 were from Current Affairs. The topics from Static GK asked were: History, Geography, Invention, National capital, Books and Authors. Current Affairs included topics like economics, ecosystem and diversity.
Essay Writing
The essay question that was asked was "Ethical Practices and their Sustainability - Do they coexist?". This topic was noted to be easy for most of the candidates.
