XAT 2019: Know the detailed analysis and expected cut off

XAT 2019 examination was successfully conducted by the XLRI on June 6, 2018, from 10 am to 1 pm, across the various test centres. XAT is among the most premier MBA entrance examination that is conducted by XLRI School of Business and Human Resources, Jamshedpur for admission in various post graduate management programmes offered by institutes accepting XAT score including SP Jain Institute of Management and Research Mumbai, Alliance Business Academy Bangalore, Goa Institute of Management Goa, Welingkar Mumbai and XIM Bhubaneshwar.

Nearly 80 thousand candidates appeared for XAT 2019 at 167 test centres across 46 cities.

According to the students who appeared for XAT 2019, it was the toughest management paper of the year. There were a few difficult questions in the Verbal Ability section along with some tricky questions in Decision Making.

XAT 2019 was divided into two parts. The first part was divided into three sections-Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning, Decision Making, and Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation. The second part carried questions on General Awareness.

XAT 2019 Detailed Analysis:

Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning:

This section was difficult as compared to previous years, primarily due to the Verbal Section. There were 4 Reading Comprehensions passages based on Psychology, Art and Social Issue with 3 questions each. The section also included a poem which carried two questions which were very difficult. The section also carried 2 para jumbles which were quite easy. FIB and CR questions were difficult and consumed more time than expected.

Decision Making and Analytical Reasoning:

This section was similar to last year. Situational Decision Making carried 18 questions and there was no question on Mathematical or Analytical Reasoning. There were more sequencing questions and 3 caselets, similar to the previous year XAT paper.

This section was slightly tougher than previous years, carrying 21 questions on QA. Most of the questions from Arithmetic were doable whereas Geometry questions were quite difficult.

General Knowledge:

Most of the questions in this section were single-statement based. Questions with multiple-statements had more than one correct statement. Questions were based on Economy, Geography, Science and Technology, Personalities, Awards, Sports and miscellaneous. The section was moderately difficult.
