“Logical Thinking is the key to score well” says XAT 2015 Topper Varun V
Varun says that XAT is the best entrance exam in India for MBA as it tests a students risk- taking and decision making skills. The strategy to manage time and score well is to attempt the questions that are easy first. The idea is not to get stuck and waste time.
He further says “for the QA section Brush up on basics. Do as many questions as you can before the exam. This is the scoring area. The cut-off for this section is high, so focus on the number of correctly attempted questions. While, for the VA & DM- Go through previous years question papers of XAT to have an idea on what kind of questions to expect. This might seem to be an easy section but is quite tricky.”
“One of the crucial factors to crack XAT is Time Management” says XAT Top Scorer Nishtha Khanna. Also gives Essay writing Tips.
Nishtha says that XAT has a lot of questions to be solved in a very less time. Time Management becomes very crucial in this exam. I think taking a lot of Mock exams really helps in managing time. My strong areas were VA and DM, while my weak area was QA. I focused more on the QA section and studied rigorously for it.
She further says “I practiced a lot of problems to prepare for Decision Making too. A lot of reading is essential in order to write brief and effective essays for the Essay writing section, I used to read newspaper daily to stay in touch with the world. However, just reading doesn't help. I also used to write one essay per day. It helped me get in the flow of writing.”
“If you're well prepared for CAT, cracking XAT will be a cakewalk” says XAT 2014 Topper Maulik Gandhi
Maulik says that XAT was the toughest! It is the quality of questions and the time constraint that makes XAT the toughest of all. If one is well prepared for CAT, cracking XAT becomes easy. XAT does not require a different preparation strategy. It is just that the exam is one level up in terms of difficulty level which is due to the time constraint. Brush up your skills and go for it!
