By: Avantika Bhardwaj on Apr 22, 2023

Now that the CAT Result is out, students who appeared in CAT Exam are one step closer to achieving their dreams of pursuing MBA course from one of the elite management institutions across the country. “What after CAT Result?” is one of the prevalent questions CAT Aspirants must be facing right now. Since candidates were able to check their expected result when the CAT Answer Keys along with students’ response sheets were released right after one week of the examination, it was not possible for them to analyze if they stood eligible for admission to IIMs or not.

IIM Kozhikode conducted the CAT Exam on 24th November 2019 and the scorecard of CAT Exam has now been made available on the official website and students who took the exam can download their respective scorecards.

This article is an attempt to help students understand what the next step is after CAT Result is declared.

As we know CAT Answer Key and students’ response sheet was declared in the first week of December 2019 and students who appeared in the exam have already calculated their scores based on it. So, after the CAT scorecard is made live on the official website, students can check the percentile scored by them and the CAT Selection Procedure to get shortlisted in the institutes they wish to become a part of.

Keep Your Academic Documents Ready

IIM Kozhikode has declared CAT 2019 Result and the race for admission to the top management institutions has begun. The excitement of qualifying the examination and anxiety of getting admission to the top management institutes might sweep away the important aspects from one’s mind.

  • The next most important step to CAT Results Declaration is keeping your academic records/documents ready for admission procedure. The certificates must be attested.

Application Deadlines

Another important step is to be aware of application deadlines of the colleges you have kept your eyes upon. You must understand the importance of submitting the application form of the institutes before the last date of submission arrives.

  • Since the demand of these institutes has increased, the institutes do not make too many application forms available for students. Students must keep a watch on application status of institutes.

Selection Parameters Set by Management Institutes

Candidates are shortlisted based on the marks obtained by them in CAT exam and shortlisted candidates are required to qualify the admission procedures set by different IIMs. The admission criteria vary from one IIM to the other. Shortlisted candidates must have a thorough knowledge of what other rounds they would be required to qualify.

Below are the two rounds that are usually conducted by the IIMs:

  • Written Ability Test (WAT)
  • Personal Interview (PI)

However, there is no common counseling procedure conducted by the IIMs, the six new IIMs conduct Common Admission Process shortened as CAP. The procedure consists of WAT and PI rounds, but IIM Sirmaur and IIM Jammu do not conduct any WAT and PI rounds. The two institutes declare merit list based on marks obtained by candidates in CAT exam, their academic record, and work experience (if any).
