What Makes NMAT Expensive?

By: Anshika on August 29, 2016

Most management aspirants believe that the NMAT by GMAC is an expensive exam as it offers admission into a limited number of Management Institutions. There are 18 Institutes that accepts the NMAT by GMAC 2017 scores. Out of these 18 Institutes, a few well known Institutes are –

  • NMIMS University, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad
  • University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES)
  • NIIT University, Delhi-NCR
  • SRM University, Chennai
  • VIT University, Vellore
  • Amity University
  • Alliance University, Bangalore
  • ICFAI University, Hyderabad and other locations
  • BML Munjal University, Delhi
  • Chitkara University

For most MBA aspirants, the NMIMS, Mumbai is their top choice. NMIMS accepts only NMAT by GMAC scores while the other participating Institutes accept scores of other entrance tests also. Therefore, paying such a high registration fee for NMAT by GMAC and applying for Institutes apart from NMIMS, Mumbai is not worth it.

Further the fee structure of NMAT is very much high as compared to that of the other MBA exams. To compare the fee for NMAT by GMAC with other management Institutes:

Entrance Test Registration Fee
NMAT by GMAC Rs. 1600 + tax + Other Charges
IIM CAT Rs. 1700 + Bank Charges
XAT Rs. 1500/-
SNAP Rs. 1500/-

Most candidates appear for the NMAT only once, since the fee for an additional charge is Rs. 1600 + Taxes. The candidates are also required to pay an additional charge of Rs. 1000/- if they hold a rank and apply for the Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds.
