The UPSC 2018 Preliminary examination was conducted on Sunday i.e. June 3, 2018. The examination was conducted across the country for 782 vacancies. Nearly 3 Lakh candidates appeared for UPSC Prelims 2018. The examination is conducted to select candidates for the post of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and others. The UPSC examination is conducted in 3 stages i.e. the preliminary examination, the main examination and the personal interview. The UPSC 2018 Main examination is scheduled to be conducted on October 1, 2018.
This year many candidates who appeared for UPSC 2018 Prelims found the examination tough. This year there were more questions on Science & Technology, Biodiversity & Climate Change, History of India and National Movement. There were 21 questions from History of India and Indian National Movement in UPSC 2018 Question Paper whereas last year there were 14 questions from the same section. Last year there were 11 questions from Science and Technology, however this year there 14 questions from the topic. There was comparatively less number of questions from Economic and Social Development.
According to the candidates, Paper 2 was quite difficult as compared to the previous years. There had been various reactions from the students on social media stating that the UPSC 2018 Prelims examination was the toughest in last 7 years. The candidates also claimed that the questions based on current affairs were not latest. The candidates believe that the questions were completely unpredictable this year and it was difficult to answer more than 45 percent of the questions.

The candidates who will qualify UPSC Prelim examination will be eligible to appear for UPSC 2018 Main examination. The online application form for UPSC 2018 Main examination will be released on the official website ofUPSC.
