TANCET 2018 examination was conducted on May 19 & May 20, 2018 by the Government College of Technology (GCT) - Coimbatore. The Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) was held at various examination centres for admission to M.E., M. Tech., M. Plan., M.C.A. and M.B.A. courses offered by the government and private colleges of Tamil Nadu.
The examination for admission to M.E., M. Tech., M. Arch. and M.Plan was conducted in morning session at 3 centres i.e. GCT, PSG College of Technology and PPG Institute of Technology whereas the examination for admission to M.B.A. was conducted in evening session. The examination for admission to M.C.A. courses was conducted on May 20 in the morning session.
Nearly 3500 students registered themselves for TANCET 2018 examination, out of which 1460 candidates appeared for Engineering examination and 2058 candidates appeared for M.B.A. examination.

The Engineering examination was held in three sections i.e. engineering mathematics, basic engineering & science and core engineering. According to the students, the core engineering section was comparatively easy than the previous year. The general engineering and engineering mathematics section was lengthy and were comparatively difficult.
P T Kaleeswaran, a BE Aeronautical Engineering student mentioned that the core engineering section of the examination was comparatively easy, but engineering mathematics section was little lengthy.
Another student from B.E. Biomedical Engineering said that the Basic Engineering and Science section involved lengthy calculations and consumed a lot of time.
On contrary, the students from Computer Science Engineering found the core section of the examination to be relatively tough as nearly 20 questions in this section were difficult.
TANCET 2018 Answer Key is expected to be released within this week.
