SSC CGL 2017: Preparation Tips to ace the exam!

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) would be conducting the Tier-1 Combined Graduate Level Examination 2017 in the month of August. The exam would be conducted from July 1 to 20 across multiple shifts. Similar to last year, the exam would be a computer based test comprising of 100 questions of 2 marks each.

The question type would be purely objective and those candidates who qualify in Tier 1 alone would be eligible for Tier 2 which would be a pen-paper based exam. The Tier 1 exam is scheduled in the month of August, about a month from now. This is one of the most sought exams for government job aspirants. 

About 14 Lakh candidates had appeared for SSC CGL Last year and this number is only expected to increase this year. With so much of competition, it is essential to keep the following tips in mind:

  1. Practice: The time for going through new concepts and topics is almost over, the last month should be devoted to practicing whatever has been learned and retaining them.
  2. Revision: Revision is very important to score good marks and to develop confidence in doing the exam well.
  3. Mock tests: Mock tests communicate the level of preparation that a candidate has done and the ways he would want to adopt to improve. It points out in specific certain areas where competence might require to be developed.
  4. Practice Last year Papers: Practice of a lot of previous year papers is recommended to understand the pattern of questioning and the topics that are most frequently tested. The more you expose yourself to the exam simulation, the more you tend to feel comfortable with it.
  5. Attend Coaching: You also would be required to attend coaching classes so that your preparation exercise becomes a little consistent and helps you solve doubts which should never be postponed until the last minute.

SSC CGL Registration

The application form for SSC CGL 2017 had been released on 19th June 2017. The Staff Selection Commission has made an announcement for recruitment across positions like - Assistant, Inspector, Auditor, Tax Assistant etc. 

A notice was released by the Under Secretary to the effect that about 30.2 Lakh applications had been received for Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2017. 

SSC CGL Exam Pattern

The Tier-1 Exam Pattern has been changed wherein the duration of the exam has been reduced to 60 minutes from 75 minutes. The number of questions and marking scheme remain the same. 

The Total number of posts for which it is held is 3805. The name of the posts is A, B, C, and D.
