NMAT: Is a retake essential?

By: Vikram on November 21, 2016

First of all, congrats to all the candidates who scored well above 215, with a score backed by consistent performance across all the sections in the NMAT by GMAC. You are slated to receive a call from one od the top B-schools to get admitted. For the others, do not lose heart and maximize your attempts in the retake. Let's have a score-wise strategy:

200-215: The candidates almost made it. It would take an extra effort to get a few more questions right to guarantee an effortless gateway to the B-schools. Your content and speed are quite on track to lead you there. Work hard a little more over the section that pulled you down and perform well in your retake.

190- 200:  Do a little analysis of what went wrong in your preparation. Is your strategy right? Have you chosen to answer questions that play to your strengths? A little re-examination of your attempt would reveal a little more focus on choosing the right questions and improving your speed to maximize your attempt, eventually your score.

Below 190: Again, content and time have gone wrong. But the effort involved for candidates in this bracket is humongous and they would have slog in a bit to get to the highest point. Mock papers need to be solved before retakes and their examination strategy needs to be re-aligned to maximize scores.

No matter which bracket you fall under, feel confident and do well. Every cost incurred for NMAT is an investment you make in yourself to yield a better educational future and greater job prospects. All the best!
