This year over 15 Lakh candidates applied for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, popularly known as NEET for admission in various Under Graduate Medical programmes across the country and abroad. Last year, nearly 13 Lakh candidates appeared for the examination. The increase in the number of applications is due to the Government's decision of making NEET mandatory for all the Indian students to study medicine abroad as well.
