According to the private NEET Coaching Centres, there has been a 20% increase in the students enrolling for crash courses as compared to previous years. In most of the coaching centres the slots are already full for the coming months.

In response to the sudden soar, the state governments have stepped forward to help the aspiring candidates. The Tamil Nadu Government started month-long residential camps, where the assistance will be provided to the government school students to crack NEET 2018. It will provide training to 3,000 aspiring candidates at 9 different college campuses in the state of Tamil Nadu. The State Education Secretary of Schools Pradeep Yadav launched a camp at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology campus. Almost 400 students from 12 different districts of Tamil Nadu enrolled themselves for this camp. According to the minister, students for these camps are selected on the basis of their Class 10 scores. He further added that “The concept of residential coaching was brought in because we felt students could focus on their studies without any distractions and gain access to all the required facilities. In addition, information sharing between peers will take place when they are together.”

Out of the nine camps set up by the state government, three camps will be providing training in English medium whereas remaining camps will be providing the same in Tamil. Currently, 8,223 students have enrolled in these camps. The classes at these camps begin at 9 AM and ends by 5 PM. The students are also provided with handbooks, notebooks and writing materials along with their accommodation and food.
