AIQ and State Level Counselling delayed over the stay by Bombay High Court
Once again, the NEET 2018 Counselling process has been disrupted. Although the Supreme Court order counteracted the stay imposed by the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court over delaying the counselling process and granting additional 196 marks to the candidates who took the NEET 2018 examination in Tamil, the Bombay High Court has impeded the All India Quota (AIQ) and the State counselling process.

Hours after the Supreme Court canceled the Madras High Court stay over the counselling process, the official website of Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) notified that the NEET Counselling 2018 process has been delayed as per the orders of the High Court.
According to the information available at mcc.nic.in, the stay in counselling for medical and dental seats is as per the direction of Hon'ble High Court of Bombay Nagpur Bench in W. P. 3885/2018 and PIL No. 87/2018. Though the website has not provided further details about the stay, the mentioned case number refers to a writ petition and a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed separately.
The case was heard by Justice B. P. Dharmadhikari and Justice Z. A. Haq in the Bombay High Court on July 19, 2018. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for July 26, 2018. Due to the stay, the counselling process of 85 percent state quota and 15 percent All India Quota, have been delayed until the further decision is taken by the court.
The Medical Council of India (MCI) has informed the Universities, Colleges, Institutes and Students about the delay. However, there is a wave of tension among the students, as delay in the counselling process may further up-hold the commencement of the new academic year 2018-2019 which is scheduled to start from August 1, 2018.
