The National Testing Agency (NTA) will be conducting competitive examination such as NEET, JEE Main and UGC NET from the upcoming academic year. The Agency has introduced numerous changes in the examinations including a unique set of question paper for each candidate where software will randomly pick questions. The candidates will also be provided with multiple dates to take the examination.

The National Test Agency will be conducting entrance examination for nearly 1.5 crore candidates every year. The agency is planning to rely heavily on technological tools like artificial intelligence, psychometric analysis, and computer-based adaptive testing. According to the plan, a candidate will be taken to the next level of questions once they complete easier questions. The step has been taken to change the way of examination as they are conducted in India.
According to Vineet Joshi, Director General of National Testing Agency, “The test will be 100 percent safe. The highest level of encryption will be used so that no one can hack into the system.”
According to the official of the NTA, the tests will be designed in such a way that the candidates can qualify the examination only if they have thoroughly covered the syllabus. The official said, “There will be distractors (Multiple Choice Question) designed to fox you. And with millions of questions to be prepared instead of a couple of question papers for a particular test, you will be at the mercy of the software's algorithm which will pick up items at random for your test at a particular date, based on the set difficulty-level.”
Characteristics of Unique Question Paper:
-
The NTA is analyzing past year question paper to check whether those tests prepared candidates for future courses such as medical, engineering etc.
-
The Question setters will undergo psychometric tests based on the results of the analysis.
-
The process of question-setting will be a year-long exercise.
-
The best encryption will be used to make the system hacking proof.
Advantages of Unique Question Paper:
-
There will not be any possibility of cheating as the software will pick questions randomly and differently for each student.
-
The questions not attempted or marked to be replied later will be available on a click.
-
The candidate will have the opportunity to choose the examination date and centre within a test period.
According to an official of HRD Ministry, “It is going to be completely driven by technology. Artificial intelligence tools will be used to setting the questions and preparing the key for correct answers, this will increase the capacity of NTA to do the things faster.”
