NEET 2018: Here’s Preparation Strategy and Tips

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test known as NEET 2018 is scheduled to be conducted on May 6, 2018. NEET is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for the candidates aspiring to seek admission in Under Graduate courses of MBS and BDS all over the country. Every year lakhs of student appear for this entrance examination to pursue their career in the field of medical science. This year almost12 lakh candidates will be appearing for this entrance examination. Hardly one month is left for the examination and the result depends entirely on the candidate's performance in this exam.

NEET 2018 Preparation Strategy and Tips

About NEET:

The time duration for NEET 2018 will be three-hour and it comprises of three sections- Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The question paper will contain 180 questions out of which 45 questions will be from Physics, 45 from Chemistry and remaining 90 from Biology. Every correct answer will provide additional four marks to the candidate whereas one mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. NEET 2018 syllabus covers the whole of class 11 and 12 standard NCERT syllabus for respective subjects. Here are few tips that will surely help candidates in qualifying NEET 2018:

  • Make a timetable and follow it- By now you would surely be having detailed information about NEET 2018 syllabus. Everyone has some favorite topics and some topics which we love avoiding. Don't ignore any topics. Topics such as Cell Structure, Photosynthesis, Biotechnology, Genetics, Plant Morphology, Evolution, Cellular Respiration carries a lot of weightage and should not be avoided. Give more time to topics like Digestion & Absorption, Animal Reproduction & Development, Breathing and Exchange of gases, Ecology, Biological classification etc. Plan your timetable in such a way that no topic is ignored. Topics like Plantae and Animalia are extensive and demands more time. You can always take small breaks after every 2-3 hours of rigorous studies. Stick to the timetable you have planned and follow it religiously.
  • Solve previous years question papers- The best way to understand the exam pattern and weightage of topics is to practice previous years paper. NEET 2018 Question Paper comprises of 180 questions which are to be answered in 180 minutes (3 Hour). Hence, each question should be answered in 1 minute. This pace can only be attained if you regularly practice previous year papers and try to analyze your weaker sections. Work on those sections where you are facing more difficulty.
  • Study Material- Don't ignore your NCERT Textbooks. NCERT books focus on the concepts and provide the basic idea about each topic. In Biology Section Genetics and Evolution is one of the most important topics. Similarly, in Physics Kinematics, Electricity & Magnetism and in Chemistry Chemical Bonding, Coordination Chemistry and General Organic Chemistry are the most important topics. Make sure that you thoroughly cover all these topics from NCERT textbooks first, before referring other books.
  • Maintain Good Health- As you are busy preparing for your examination, don't ignore your health. If you will be healthy, then you can concentrate more on your studies. Take proper sleep and can also do meditation & yoga to improve your concentration.

NEET 2018 is one of the most challenging competitive examinations of India but always remember that nothing is impossible. Feel positive and remain focused towards your goal.
