The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has moved to the Supreme Court over re-allotment of examination centres for the NEET candidates of Tamil Nadu. The NEET 2018 examination is scheduled to be conducted on May 6, 2018 and merely few days before the examination the Board has challenged a decision of the Madras High Court regarding the reallocation of the examination centre for the candidates of Tamil Nadu.
As the examination is scheduled for May 6, the CBSE has already issued admit cards for all the candidates including the aspirants of the state of Tamil Nadu who have been assigned examination centres in other states such as Kerala, Karnataka and Rajasthan.
Earlier a petition was filed by S Kalimuthu Mylavan in theMadras High Court mentioning that the candidates of Tamil Nadu were assigned examination centres outside the state and the allotment is not according to their preferences.
The Bench of Justice Huluvadi G. Ramesh and M. Dhandapani on April 27, 2018 directed the CBSE regarding the reallocation of examination centres for the candidates of Tamil Nadu. The Board's non-adherence to the high court order has created tension among the NEET aspirants from Tamil Nadu. The Board has approached the Supreme Court merely three days before the examination.
The School Education Minister K. A. Sengottiyan stated that the Government will ensure that the students of government and government-aided schools will be provided with centres within their respective State.
