NATA 2017: Exam analysis

Candidates are required to score atleast 25% marks in the entrance exam to qualify for NATA 2017. They are required to obtain 30 marks out of 120 in Paper 1 and 20 out 80 marks in Paper 2. The overall qualifying marks would be notified later on the basis of post exam statistics and decision of the council.

Until now, NATA was an online examination. From now on, the exam pattern would also see major changes. As per the new pattern, the pen and paper exam has been conducted in an offline mode.

Paper 1 Analysis

Paper 1 contained 60 MCQs and the duration is 1.5 hours. Each question carries 2 marks and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. It involves checking the following - perception,observation, understanding of scale and proportion, creativity and communication in addition to the architectural awareness of the candidate.

This section would also test the mathematics level of the candidate in terms of Algebra, Logarithms, Quadratic equations,Differential calculus,Vectors, Permutations to mentiona few relevant concepts.

In this section , candidates would be required to draw a sketch or diagram in 3D as per their visualizing skills, symmetry and sketching ability. Through sketching, the ability of visualizing things would be tested. It has 2 questions and has to be attempted in A4. Every question carried 40 marks. The answers would be examined by more than one examiner and the marks would be averaged.
