JEE Main 2018 will be compulsory for Engineering Colleges

The success NEET as one central exam for all medical and dental institutes across India is remarkable, keeping this in mind Ministry of Human Resource Development has decided to make JEE (Main) compulsory for all engineering colleges from 2018. The JEE Main exam will become a single entrance gateway to 3500+ engineering colleges across the country which will also include deemed universities and private institutes.

Currently, JEE Main is conducted for 1150+ engineering colleges across the nation. The JEE exam is organised in two levels viz. JEE Main and JEE Advanced. The Top candidates of JEE Main are selected by JAB (Joint Admission Board) for JEE Advanced.

The responsibility for this new national level exam will be given to a new agency. JEE exam will now be conducted in several regional languages with the rural students in mind and that too twice a year.

However, the final decision to take admission through the new central exam will be on the institutes itself, or they want to give weightage to the class XII scorecard
