JEE Main 2018 : Exam to be held on April 8, 2018

The Central Board of Secondary Education had announced the dates for JEE Main offline 2018. The pen and paper test is slated to be held on April 8, 2018. Dates for the Computer Based Test have not been announced but the exam is expected to be scheduled in mid-April 2018. 

JEE Main 2018

JEE Main paper 1 would be held in online and offline mode. Paper 2 would be held in online mode only. Online Registration for JEE Main 2018 would begin from the first week of December and would end until January 2018. JEE Main would be held in 104 cities all over India and 9 cities abroad. Any student who passes or is eligible for Grade 12 would be eligible to appear for JEE Main 2018. 

JEE Main is conducted to determine admission into 24,000+ seats in 31 National Institutes of Technology, 20 GFTIs and 23 Indian Institutes of Information Technology. The multiple choice based questions cover subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics which would be required to be attempted within a time span of 3 hours. 

Paper 2 is a Multiple Choice based question paper that covers the following sections - Aptitude Test, Drawing Test and Mathematics. About 12 Lakh students appeared in JEE Main in the previous year for admission to programmes that are offered by various institutes. 

A Joint Admission Board of IITs conducts JEE Advanced in order to fill their seats. The JEE Advanced would be held by IITs on May 20, 2018. JEE Advanced would be conducted in a Computer-Based mode as per the IITs. In 2017, about 10 Lakh candidates had registered for JEE Main pen and paper based examination while 1.8 Lakh students had registered for Computer based test or online test. 

JEE Main application form would tentatively be released in the month of December in the first week. JEE Main application form would be available for about one and a half month. The candidates should keep ready with them scanned photograph, signature and thumb impression which would be required to be uploaded in the course of filling the application form.

About 11.8 lakh candidates registered for Paper 1 out of which over 95% students had registered for offline while about 5% of the total population registered for the online examination. About 2.2 Lakh of the examinees who attempted the exam wrote JEE Advanced 2018.
