JEE Main Exam: Cutoff scores over the past

The Joint Entrance Examination is the most sought after examination in the country, hands down. About 10 lakh +candidates register for the exam seeking to get admission in the most coveted institutions in the country.

The exam is held in two stages- JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE advanced would be given by students who clear JEE Main.

This year, CBSE had decided to grant the eligibility to only 2,20,000 candidates who score above the JEE Main cutoff scores as determined by CBSE. These cutoff scores would be declared around the last week of April.

The cutoff scores would be different across categories and it would be decided on the basis of the total count of candidates who give the JEE Main. The 2,20,000 overall count is based on performers from categories like- General, OBC,SC and ST.

Candidates would be able to get a fair idea of what the cutoff scores would be depending on the trends that have occurred in the last few years. This would also be dependent on the difficulty level of the exam.

Year 2016: Gen- 100, OBC- 70,SC-52,ST- 48

Year 2015: Gen- 105, OBC- 70,SC-50,ST- 44

Year 2014: Gen- 115, OBC- 74,SC-53,ST- 47

Year 2013: Gen- 113, OBC- 70,SC-50,ST- 45

The JEE Main cutoff for PWD candidates of a particular category would be same as the candidates from any other category.The ranks of JEE Main would be announced by June.

These cutoff scores are usually to determine the eligibility to write JEE Advanced. It does not reflect on the rank list of JEE Main or the admissions based on the same.
