The Central Board of Secondary Education has begun the data correction procedure for applicants who have applied for JEE Main Examination that is held to be in the month of April. The link correction facility would be available from January 9 and would last until January 22, 2018.
Candidates entering any particular flawed detail can log in the same and correct them. Candidates would be able to correct any discrepancy in the uploading of the images. Application Forms with images that are blurred and do not follow the required format would be summarily rejected.
The candidates must keep in their mind to make the corrections latest by January 22, as any request for correction after January 22 would not be entertained. Candidates would also be required to pay an additional fee for the corrections made. The additional fee can be paid by the candidates either by way of credit card/debit card/e-wallet or by way of e-challan generated in the course of the online correction by cash in Canara/Syndicate/ICICI Bank between January 9 and 23, 2018.
Candidates should, however, note that they would not be allowed to change the mode of examination computer-based to pen and paper-based examination. Since the correction is only a one-time facility, candidates would be required to make the corrections carefully and follow rules to ensure that their application is not rejected.
JEE Main Examination is slated to be conducted on April 8, 2018. The JEE Main Application Procedure began on December 1, 2017, and ended on January 1, 2018. This year, there is a dip in the count of the JEE Main aspirants this year that has fallen from 12 Lakh to 11.5 Lakh in 2017.
The candidates favoring the Computer Based Examination has increased to 2.25 Lakh from 1.8 Lakh in 2017. The candidates preferring offline mode is 9 Lakh as against 10 Lakh in the previous year. The JEE Main Examination is the eligibility examination for JEE Advanced Examination that ensures admission to 23 IITs. JEE Advanced Examination would be held on May 20, 2017. The JEE Advanced examination would be conducted in a Computer Based Mode.
For candidates in order to qualify for admission in IITs/NITs/IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutions, where admissions are based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced Ranks, they should have secured a minimum of 75% in Grade 12 or be in the top 20 percentile in Grade 12 Examination that is conducted by the respective Boards.
JEE Main examination is the passport or access gateway for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes to 31 NITs, 23 IITs and 23 CFTIs. Candidates would be allowed a total of three attempts for JEE Main 2018. Aadhaar Card is a mandatory requirement for applicants.
