JEE Main 2019: Over 1.8 lakh students took the examination on day 1

On the first day of the most popular engineering entrance examination of the country, more than 1.8 lakh students appeared for the test across the country. This was the first time for the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducting JEE Main 2019. The entrance examination will be conducted in four days of multiple shifts through the computer-based testing format. The last date of examination is January 12, 2019.

Before the establishment of NTA, JEE Main examination was used to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).  The 180 minutes examination will start from 9:30 AM as the first shift followed by the next session of the examination which will be conducted at 12:30 PM. Mr. Vineet Joshi, former CBSE chairperson and current Director General of NTA has advised the candidates to reach the examination center well in advance in order to avoid any consequences. NTA has also released a set of guidelines at official website jeemain.nic.in for students to be followed during the examination. Students are also provided the facility of ‘Centre Locator' available on the website which will help the students find the shortest and the fastest possible route of the examination center.

Addressing one of the previous year's incident when two of the girl students were not allowed to enter the examination hall when they refused to let go their “hizab”. Mr. Joshi talking about the concern said that “There is no dress code for students we have also asked the frisking staff to be more careful with students especially girls.”

As there is a modification in the exam pattern of JEE, NTA will conduct the test twice a year and the next session of JEE Main 2019 will be conducted in the second week of April 2019. JEE Main 2019 Result will be declared at end of the month as per previous notification available.
