Central Trade Union had called a nationwide 2 days general-strike on January 8th and January 9th of 2019 which is most likely to affect thousands of students who are going to take JEE Mains 2019. As per the schedule released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) the first phase of JEE Mains 2019 will be conducted between January 8th to January 12th.

For those who are not aware of the changed JEE Main Exam Pattern candidates should note that from this year onwards the top engineering entrance examination will be conducted twice a year by NTA. The first phase will be conducted in the 2nd week of January while the second phase of the examination will be conducted in the month of April 2019.
As a result of the general strike, the students are concerned that it will be difficult for them to reach their JEE Main Test Centres as all the transportation mode will be affected.
Addressing the concerns of students, the director general of NTA Vineet Joshi said that he understands the concern but as of now the agency has no plans to change the JEE Main Exam Schedule, He also mentioned that “we will be holding a meeting to discuss the matter soon."
The general strike announced by Central Trade Union earlier in the month of September has by far received huge support from the members including CITU, INTUC, AITUC, HMS, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, UTUC, AIRF and NFIR.
When asked about the consequences of the strike on the upcoming examination, trade union leader giving an explanation on the same said that the union was unaware of the dates of entrance examination and they would not intentionally want to affect the examination. R Chandrasekharan, the state president of INTUC showing the inability to postpone the dates said that “This is a national strike that was announced quite early and no one had approached us with representations.”
Student, parents, and schools are coming forward raising the concern and asking for a solution. TPM Ibrahim Khan, current president of Kerala CBSE Schools and Management Associations said that the issue has not come into his notice earlier and they were out of clue for whom to give the representation in this regard as it was a national strike. He also added that the students are already worried about the fact that the dates of the examination have been advanced.
