By: Sakshi Awasthi on June 11, 2018

The JEE Advanced Result has been declared on the official website of JEE i.e. jeeadv.ac.in by the India Institute of Technology, Kanpur. The number of candidates who qualified the examination for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) is the lowest in last seven years. Nearly 1.55 Lakh candidates appeared for Joint Entrance Examination which was conducted on May 20. Out of which, 18,138 candidates qualified the examination.  For the academic session of 2017, nearly 51 thousand candidates qualified for the same examination. According to the IIT-Kanpur, the examination conducting body of JEE Advanced 2018, the decline in the All India Rank holders is due to error-free question paper, which negated the need for grace marks.

Shalabh, IIT-Kanpur's Joint Advanced Chairman said, “The JEE Advanced this year was completely free from errors, which is why no grace marks were awarded. Grace marks end up pushing in more aspirants into the qualifying list.”

Last year the examination was conducted by IIT-Madras and the candidates were rewarded with 18 bonus marks due to errors in the question paper because of which 51,040 candidates qualified the examination.
