JEE Advanced 2017: Details you must know

JEE Advanced 2017 would be conducted by IIT Madras on May 21. The entrance exam would be conducted between 9-12 pm and 2-5 pm. Candidates would be taking both the papers.

JEE Advanced is the second phase of the JEE Main. It provides admission to eligible candidates into Btech programmes offered by 23 IITs. To participate in JEE Advanced 2017, Candidates should be among the top 2,20,000 ranks in JEE Main. In 2016, only top 2 lakh candidates were eligible for JEE Advanced 2017.

The online application of JEE Advanced is available and the registration would be open until May 2, 2017. The seat allotment procedure of various candidates would be done through JoSaa procedure.

About 10,000+ UG Engineering seats would be open for admission through JEE Advanced.

The eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced is as follows:

The eligibility criteria is a set of requirements that are needed to be fulfilled by aspiring candidates in order to be considered eligible for the same. The eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced includes a lot of aspects relating to age limit, marks and percentage and the number of attempts.

IIT Madras would be conducting JEE Advanced for Foreign Nationals in 8 countries including five SAARC nations - Bangladesh,Nepal, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The candidates should be among the top 2.2 lakh qualifiers for JEE Advanced. 

The Category wise distribution is as follows:

Open - 1,11,100

OBC - 59,400

SC - 33,000

ST - 16,500

The candidates should have been born after October 1, 1992.

JEE Advanced can be attempted a maximum of 2 times in consecutive years.

Those candidates who were earlier admitted for IITs are not eligible for JEE Advanced 2017.

The application form of JEE Advanced is available until May 2, 5 pm.

The candidates would have to register online in order to fill the application form. JEE Advanced forms can be filled only by those who are in the top 2.2 lakh list.

The following three steps should be followed:

  1. Filling registration form
  2. Uploading the scanned certificates
  3. Payment of registration fee

JEE Advanced Registration fee for exam centres in India

Female candidates - INR 1200

SC/ST/PwD - INR 1200

All categories - INR 2400

JEE Advanced application fee for exam centers outside India - USD 135

A late fee of USD 80 must be paid id they submit their application form after the last date.

The application fee fro candidates from Non-SAARC countries is USD 270.

The exam pattern on JEE Advanced is as follows:

Section 1

Single option - 5 questions

3 marks for questions, -1 negative marking

Maximum sectional marks - 15 marks

Section 2

One or more correct option - 8 questions

4 marks for questions, -2 negative marking, +1 for darkening a bubble corresponding to correct option

Maximum sectional marks - 32 marks

Section 3

Single digit integer - 5 questions

3 marks for questions

Maximum sectional marks - 15 marks

4 marks for questions, -2 negative marking, +1 for darkening a bubble corresponding to correct option

Maximum sectional marks - 32 marks
