By: Archana on May 31, 2019

This year a lot of changes took place in Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2019 and one such major change was introduction of Seats in Indian Institutes of Technologies (IITs) for the candidates belonging to Economically Weaker Section (EWS). Candidates, who have applied for the EWS quota to avail the reservation in IITs, are facing trouble in getting income certificate. MHRD assured the candidates of taking necessary action to resolve the issue at earliest.

This will be the first time candidates could apply under EWS Category. After the completion of JEE Advanced 2019 candidates are waiting for their results to be declared. Meanwhile the candidates who have applied under EWS category for admission in 23 IITs of the country are applying for the supporting documents of their EWS Category but they are not getting required support from the issuing authorities.

As a large number of students are suffering in lack of proper support, the matter has been brought to the notice of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), the officials have assured the students by confirming that all the necessary action and steps will be taken to resolve this issue.

According to IIT Roorkee, the conducting body of this year's JEE Advanced 2019, about 12,000 applicants from all over country had applied under the EWS category.

It is also important to note that addition of the EWS category is not going to disturb the equilibrium of current sets in the IITs under each category. The seats under the EWS category will be additional from the one already exist. This year all the IITs are planning to have an addition of 4% of seat.

This year more than 1.73 lakh students appeared for JEE Advanced 2019 which was conducted in two parts as Paper 1 and Paper 2. The result of JEE Advanced 2019 will be announced on June 14, followed by seat allocation through Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will conduct the counselling and seat allotment process for admission to the participating institutes.
