By: R Chandrakala on Oct 11, 2017

The IBPS RRB Prelims Result has been out for the candidates and the selected few would be concerned about their focus on preparing right for RRB Mains.  Every candidate, as usual, is expected to have a good knowledge about the syllabus, examination pattern and planning all of that in a way wherein revision is done before the date of the examination.

The Mains Examination is slated to be for a duration of 2 hours out of which a candidate is expected to prepare for the following 5 sections:

  1. Reasoning
  2. Language
  3. General Awareness
  4. Quantitative Aptitude
  5. Computer Knowledge

The way to score marks in Quantitative Aptitude Section would be by way of attempting questions relating to Quadratic Equations, Number series, Simplification, and Approximation. Once these questions are attempted, candidates can attempt Data Interpretation. The other questions would be focusing on topics like Compound Interest, Simple Interest, Time, Partnership etc.

Reasoning section should be attempted by a candidate to the maximum best by first approaching questions, not in the form of puzzles. Start with questions on inequalities, distance, direction, coding-decoding, syllogism and other topics apart from puzzles. Not more than half an hour should be spent attempting this section.

If a candidate is very good at vocabulary for the English section, Reading Comprehension needs to be attempted first and then Cloze Tests in addition to other topics like Detection of errors, replacement of phrases, double fillers etc. The questions that require in-depth reading and understanding should be attempted only after the easier questions are done.

The Hindi Language is moderately tested every year. Hindi is most preferred by candidates from the Northern part of India. English as a Language Section was tougher in comparison to Hindi. The Language section should typically be attempted within 25 minutes.

Staying updated on General Knowledge is really important as far as a period of previous 6 months in concerned. Static and General Current Affairs should be read from Newspapers, Periodicals, and General Knowledge capsules. Computer Awareness is a section that many people are familiar with as they can fetch you marks pretty easily. About 15 minutes on this section would be too much to invest in.

IBPS RRB Result for the Prelims Examination was declared in the first week of October. With about 25 days left for the examination, the candidate is required to focus on the practice of mock and previous year question papers to do well in the IBPS RRB Mains Examination.
