Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has postponed the application process schedule for recruitment through GATE 2018. The PSU was due to begin the online application process for GATE 2018 on January 9, 2018. As per a recent update was given on the website, the details about the online application would be available on February 12, 2018. The GATE 2018 Exam shall be conducted on February 3, 4, 10 and 11.
BHEL would recruit for 50 engineer trainee posts on the basis of GATE Score. The recruitment shall be for Mechanical and Electrical Engineers. BHEL would accept GATE 2018 scores for this recruitment. The tentative number of vacancies for mechanical engineers is 30 and for electrical engineers is 20.
Candidates applying for posts should have a full-time Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Technology or Five Year Integrated Master's Degree or Dual Degree programme in engineering or technology in disciplines such as Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university/institute.
The candidate should also be in a position to produce their final year/degree mark sheets by July 1, 2018, or at the time of the interview, whichever is earlier.
The upper age limit for engineers is 27 years, candidates born before September 1, 1990, are not eligible to apply. The upper age limit is relaxed by 2 years, i.e. 29 years for candidates who studied or have completed two years full-time Post Graduate in Engineering or Business Administration/Management.

The upper age limit shall also be relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST Candidates and 3 years for candidates belonging to the OBC Category.
BHEL would be shortlisting candidates on the basis of the scores that they have got in GATE 2018 Examination. Shortlisted candidates would be called for an interview once the GATE Results are declared.
The GATE Examination conducted online consists of 23 papers. The exam papers would have questions for which the answers would have to be given using the virtual keypad. The rest of the questions are Multiple Choice Based.
