Expert's Comments on CAT 2017!!

By: Shreyansh Shrivastava on August 24, 2017
CAT (Common Admission Test) is the most favoured MBA test in India. It is the Gateway to the prestigious IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management). Many candidates irrespective of graduation background apply for CAT exam to get admission in the prestigious IIMs. CAT 2017 is going to be conducted on 26th November 2017 and not much time is left for the exam to come. The students who are regularly preparing for the exam have resorted to mock tests and are practicing maximum questions while many working candidates have taken leave and are utilizing the maximum time for the CAT preparation.

On the upcoming CAT 2017 exam, have a look at what the experts want to say-

1) Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension section (VARC) has a heavy weighting in CAT exam. This indicates the requirement of the IIMs for the candidates having good reading abilities that the candidate can reflect while studying the management courses in IIMs. The motive behind this section is to check the candidate's ability to understand the abstract of the text and to apprehend the idea successfully.

2) The educational background does not matter in this test as the analytical ability of the candidate is tested in CAT 2017 than the knowledge of the graduation subject which makes CAT exam an equal platform of selection for all the eligible candidates.

3) According to the experts, giving importance to the questions from all the sections is important to score the mandatory cutoff that can ensure a seat in the top management institutions.

4) The experts say that to crack the CAT 2017 exam, the application of knowledge is required which asks for learning and execution. Therefore, the candidate should focus on application based preparation.

The experts also suggest that 2-3 hours of daily preparation which should be increased to at least 8-9 hours few months before the exam would suffice the preparation required.
