Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Secretary mentioned that the maximum number of applications are received from UP followed by Bihar and Delhi. The board has also decided to increase the number of examination centres in Bihar and Assam because of increase in the number of candidates taking the examination beyond capacity.

CTET 2019 is scheduled to be conducted on July 7, 2019, and observing the increase in the number of applications received, CBSE has also decided to increase the number of CTET Exam Centres in Assam and Bihar for the upcoming exam. As per the data, the number of applicants is beyond the capacity of earlier allotted schools and colleges in the mentioned states.

“The highest numbers of applications have been received from Uttar Pradesh, followed by Bihar and Delhi. From UP itself, approximately 7 lakh applications were received, over 2 lakh from Bihar and approximately 1 lakh candidates applied from Delhi,”- said Mr. Tripathi, who is also director of CTET.

He further added that particularly in Bihar, over 1, 38,000 applications were received from Patna and more than63, 200 applications were received from Muzaffarpur centres of Bihar. The number of applications was also high in Guwahati, where over 62, 300 applications were received. This all leads to an increase in examination centres in the states.

Over 2 lakh applications were received from Bihar and to accommodate these many students the board decided to add four more exam centres. Now the exam will be conducted at Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, Gaya, and Vaishali along with Patna and Muzaffarpur.

Similarly with increase in applicants in Assam to over 62, 300 now the exam will be also be conducted at Dibrugarh, Jorhat, and Silchar.

The board has even extended dates for application correction so that candidates can change their respective examination centres to the newly formed exam centres in Bihar and Assam.

The exam will be held in the month of July 2019 in twenty languages and 97 cities across the country.
