CLAT 2019 which is scheduled on May 12, 2019, will be conducted in offline mode. Eliminating the rumors going on regarding the mode examination getting changed to online, Srikrishna Deva Rao, vice-chancellor of NLU, Odisha said that CLAT 2019 will be conducted in offline mode as earlier without any change. Srikrishna Deva Rao who is also the Convenor of this year CLAT examination further mentioned that the exam may go online in the future if the number of applicants increases.
CLAT 2019 will be conducted in offline mode by NLUO Cuttack on May 12, exam might go online in case number of applicants increase.
CLAT is an all India examination conducted every year for admission in the five year integrated law courses being offered at 19 participating National Law Universities (NLUs). The window for CLAT 2019 Application Process is still open and candidates are advised to visit the official website clatconsortiumofnlu.ac.in before March 31, 2019, to complete the application process. Also, note that the application process is completely online.
The CLAT examination was started a decade ago in the year 2008 and initially, the examination was conducted in offline mode. It was later in the year 2015 the board decided to go online with the thought of speed the whole admission and selection process until last year when the two major issues arise with the online mode:
Srikrishna Deva Rao who seems not to be in favor of the examination going online mode further said that “it has been decided to take the CLAT 2019 exam offline again to provide wider access to the candidates. In addition to that, the CLAT exam will have a new conducting body that is the executive committee of the consortium, headquartered at Bangalore.”
The Executive Committee has decided to conduct the CLAT examination on a rotational basis among the participating NLUs in order to keep transparency in the examination and have a fair quality admission process. The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore; National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) Hyderabad and NLIU, Bhopal were the members of executive committee.
On asking about when we can expect the examination to go online again Srikrishna Deva Rao said that the Idea is still open, however, as number of participant for CLAT is much less than other examinations like JEE Mains and NEET, in future if the number of applicants increases it will be more convenient to take the examination online.
