CAT Last minute preparation tips

The CAT Mock test has already been released by IIM Lucknow on the CAT official website. CAT mock test has the same instruction as the CAT exam that would be conducted on November 26. Candidates would be given about 180 minutes to complete the examination and PwD candidates would be given 240 mins to do the Common Admission Test.
A sectional time limit of one hour is applicable for every section on the expiration of which the section would get locked. The candidate would be expected to click on the submit button and move on to the subsequent section. With the CAT exam approaching soon, the candidate is required to keep the following few tips in mind to do the examination well. There is nothing that can be touted as most important or less important in the CAT Exam.
Every section is equally important and therefore the last minute revision of the candidates should be focused on the mistakes that they would have made in the course of practice and ways to avoid them. A balance between speed and accuracy is essential for students to do well in the exam. First, accuracy would be required to be focused and then speed. The student should also bear time in mind and not spend unnecessary time on a question.
The candidates should make maximum attempts to ensure that they attempt most of the questions that could be attempted in the exam with a calm and focused mindset. In addition to this, the easier questions should be identified and solved first, after which tougher questions can be chosen and likewise to ensure a satisfying attempt in the examination. The candidates can refer to the following tips in order to do well in the CAT Examination:
- Time Management is an important skill that the candidates must make use of in order to stay in control at the time of attempting the exam. The more a candidate spends time as per his plan and estimation and sticks to it on a consistent basis, the maximum attempt of the questions can be ensured in the examination.
- The candidate should also know his strengths and weaknesses as that would help them know how to work and improve on the weaker points and capitalize on the stronger points.
- Preparation towards the exam in the final lap should be focused on quick revision from the notes that would be prepared by the candidates at the time of preparing in the last few months.
- Mock test frequency can be reduced in the final lap and focus can be made on revising ones that were attempted and making a note of mistakes that were made, to improvise on attempts.
- Previous year question papers would be required to be solved by the candidate on a regular basis to ensure a good practice in the earlier months as the candidate in the final lap would realize the cruciality of various topics that would be tested across the sections in the exam.
- The candidates must be quick in reading and analyzing a question given in the exam as spending more than 2 minutes over a question would lead to sheer wastage of time.
